- In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add sugar, egg, vanilla extract, salt, and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
- Gradually add flour to the mixture until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes.
- Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough and cut into squares. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and fry the beignets until golden brown.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Beignets are best served fresh. You can also add different flavors like cinnamon or chocolate.
