Ingredients
  

For the Pie Crust
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup ice water
For the Filling
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, butter, and sugar. Mix until crumbly.
  2. Add ice water gradually until the dough holds together. Roll out the dough and fit it into a pie dish. Chill while preparing the filling.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in pecans and chocolate chips.
  4. Pour the filling into the prepared crust. Bake for 50 minutes or until set. Let cool before slicing.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for added flavor.
