Ingredients
  

For the Beef
  • 1 lb beef tenderloin, thinly sliced
For the Sauce
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 2 tablespoons sake (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
For the Vegetables
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • ½ cup water
For Serving
  • sesame seeds, for garnish
  • cooked rice, for serving

Equipment

  • Wok

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and cornstarch. Set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add beef and stir-fry until browned. Remove beef from the wok.
  3. Add vegetables to the wok and stir-fry until tender. Return beef to the wok.
  4. Add the sauce and water. Cook until the sauce thickens. Serve with rice and garnish with sesame seeds.

Notes

You can customize the vegetables based on your preference. Try adding snap peas or mushrooms.
