Ingredients
  

For the Beef
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
For the Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons Szechuan peppercorns
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
For the Vegetables
  • ½ cup snow peas
  • 2 tablespoons chili paste or sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • ½ cup chicken broth
For Serving
  • Cooked rice for serving

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the flank steak and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic, ginger, Szechuan peppercorns, and the sliced vegetables. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes.
  4. Mix in soy sauce, rice vinegar, cornstarch, chili paste, hoisin sauce, and chicken broth. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Garnish with green onions and serve over cooked rice.

Notes

You can adjust the spice level by adding more or less chili paste.
