  • 12 ounces Pasta Penne or fusilli work well.
For the Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil For sautéing the sausage and aromatics.
  • 1 medium Onion Diced.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 1 can (28 ounces) Crushed Tomatoes Adds acidity and sweetness.
  • 3 cups Low-Sodium Chicken Broth For cooking the pasta.
  • 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning Enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes Adjust for heat preference.
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese Freshly grated, for garnish.

Method
 

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté until translucent.
  2. Add the minced garlic and spicy sausage to the pot. Cook until the sausage is browned.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and chopped basil.
