Ingredients
  

For the Bread
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 stick butter or 8 tablespoons softened
  • ¾ cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 3 medium bananas peeled and mashed
  • cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • ½ cup chopped nuts pecans or walnuts (Optional)
For the Maple Glaze
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons milk
  • ¼ cup butter or 4 tablespoons
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and baking soda. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Add eggs, mashed bananas, buttermilk, maple syrup, and maple extract. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Stir in chopped nuts if desired.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. For the glaze, combine brown sugar, milk, butter, and maple extract in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar.
  6. Once the bread is done, let it cool and drizzle the glaze on top before serving.

Notes

This bread can be stored in an airtight container for several days. Enjoy it warm or at room temperature.
