Ingredients
  

For the Pasta
  • 2 cups macaroni
For the Cheese Sauce
  • 2 cups cheese (cheddar is recommended)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • ½ cup bread crumbs (optional for topping)

Method
 

  1. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  4. Add the cheese, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until the cheese melts.
  5. Mix the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce and transfer to a baking dish. Top with bread crumbs if desired.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes or until golden on top.

Notes

You can customize this dish by adding vegetables or proteins. Adjust seasonings according to your taste.
