Ingredients
  

For the Custard
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream, half-and-half, or milk
  • 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch ground nutmeg
  • Pinch salt
For the French Toast
  • 6 slices bread, preferably day old Use 1-inch-thick slices.
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • to taste Pure maple syrup, for serving Optional.

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
  2. Heat butter and oil in a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Dip each slice of bread in the custard mixture, ensuring both sides are coated, then cook until golden brown on both sides.

Notes

Serve with pure maple syrup if desired. Enjoy your meal!
