Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough
  • 2 ¼ cups bleached all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 ½ sticks (6 ounces) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons finely grated lemon zest (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
For Decoration
  • Colored sugars and silver dragées For decorating the cookies.

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and lemon zest. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add the flour and salt to the mixture, mixing until combined.
  4. Roll the dough into balls and place them on a baking sheet. Flatten slightly and decorate with colored sugars and silver dragées.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
