Ingredients
  

For the Beef
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
For the Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with water for thickening mix with 2 tablespoons water
  • ΒΌ cup water or beef broth
  • sesame seeds, for garnish optional
  • cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Equipment

  • Wok

Method
 

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a wok over high heat. Add sliced beef and stir-fry until browned.
  2. Add onion, garlic, ginger, and bell pepper. Stir-fry until vegetables are tender.
  3. Mix in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and water or beef broth. Stir well.
  4. Add cornstarch mixture to thicken the sauce. Cook until the sauce has thickened.
  5. Stir in green onions and serve over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

You can adjust the thickness of the sauce by adding more or less cornstarch mixture. Feel free to add other vegetables as desired.
