Vegetables
  • 1 head broccoli cut into florets
  • 1 lb cremini or button mushrooms sliced
Aromatics
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 small onion or shallot sliced
Sauce Base
  • ΒΌ cup soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar or honey
Thickener
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoon water
Fats
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil for flavor
Optional Garnish
  • sesame seeds
  • red pepper flakes for heat
  • fresh cilantro

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil and sesame oil in a wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add garlic and onion, stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add broccoli and mushrooms, stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  4. Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, and cornstarch mixture in a bowl, then add to the wok.
  5. Stir until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes. Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds, red pepper flakes, and cilantro.
