- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Prepare the pie dough and fit it into a pie dish.
- In a large bowl, mix the sugars, flour, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.
- Add the sliced apples and lemon juice to the bowl, tossing to coat.
- Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust.
- Dot the filling with butter and cover with the top crust. Seal and cut slits for steam.
- Brush the top crust with egg white and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Bake for 50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let cool before slicing. Serve with ice cream and caramel sauce if desired.
Notes
For best results, use a mix of tart and sweet apples.
